A weapon is a blade, a handle, and an essence. The blade sets base damage and damage type. The handle sets attack speed and sub-stats. The essence sets element and derived effects. You pay SP at a sword shrine, then pick the Q weapon art the parts qualify for.
SP for each tier step
| Step | SP |
|---|---|
| Tier 1 to tier 2 | 15 |
| Tier 2 to tier 3 | 25 |
| Tier 3 to tier 4 | 60 |
| The step into tier 5 | 100 |
Those four prices add up to 200 SP for one line climbed from the free tier-1 parts through tier 5. That 200 is the sum of the four listed steps, not a separate price tag. SP income is 5 per level, 5 from the daily challenge when a dungeon's modifiers change, 1 per crafting level, and occasional quest SP.
Representative coverage of the blade list is uneven: 2 tier-1, 11 tier-2, 36 tier-3, 56 tier-4, and 1 tier-5 in the count that accompanies the sample. This page keeps the rows that have a full stat line. It does not invent the rest of the 106.
Attack speed is an average
Weapon attack speed is (blade speed + handle speed) / 2. Basic Handle at 1 and Agile Blade at 1.2 average to 1.1. Kitsune adds 0.1 to that result. Three speed classes — weapon, stat, and affix — multiply each other. Bonuses inside one class add.
Damage type is not the same stat as scaling
Damage type is the element you deal. Damage scaling is which stat multiplies it. They do not convert into each other. Multiple scalings add as one effective bonus. Example: 1.1 Air scaling times a +50% Air boost, plus 0.5 Magic scaling times a +25% Magic boost, is 1.1×50% + 0.5×25% = +67.5% effective bonus, applied once.
The full documented formula is:
DMG = base damage × effective bonus × level bonus × damage bonus × damage reduction × output type × type-specific × crit × armor
Level bonus is the 1% per level from the leveling route. Swapping to a blade with a higher paper number wastes the formula when its scalings miss the boosts you already stacked.

Handles worth a trip
| Handle | Tier | Speed | How |
|---|---|---|---|
| Basic Handle | 1 | 1 | Free at creation |
| Agile Handle | 2 | 1.1 | 15 SP from Basic |
| Ancient Handle | 3 | 1 | Complete The Bastion |
| Angelwood Handle | 4 | 1 | 60 SP from Purewood Handle |
| Shadow Handle | 4 | 1.1 | 60 SP from Katana Handle |
Shadow Handle is the Dual Greatsword handle. Ancient Handle is why The Bastion is on the boss route even though Bastion Guardian's XP payout is only 600.
